New year, new beginnings

It has been months since I updated! Haha. Well, life's pretty norm for me and because I was busy handling some career-changing issues the past few months, so there was nothing much to update.

Anyway, time flies and it's 2014! This year can be said to be a brand new year for me, with exciting changes and things to look forward to. I hope this will be a good year for me. *crosses fingers* I don't have the habit of setting new year resolutions because I always forget what I set out in the first place, but I came across this quote which I thought to be very true and motivational and to which I have decided I will follow closely to in this 1 year and future years to come.

*******

As with all other years throughout my life, the start of a brand new year is always a very busy period of celebrations and lots of nice food and gatherings for me. It will all start with Christmas and then followed shortly by New Year and then on the very next day, it will be my birthday celebration.

As I turn another year older (officially a quarter of a century old), I seek another year of maturity and wisdom to come my way. This year, I had a simple yet warm celebration with none other than my loved ones.

First up! We went for brunch at Symmetry since we heard so much raves and reviews about it. But guess what? There is only all-day breakfast on weekends. :( So we kinda made a wasted trip and Nel was so pissed off because there was nothing said about only all-day breakfast on weekends. If we knew that they only serve all-day breakfast on weekends, we would not have went there.

And when we went there, the main kitchen was closed (it was only 2pm) and so they only served stuff like sandwiches and drinks. We were very famished so we order sandwiches, but it only tasted mediocre. Not sure whether I will be returning here on a weekend to try their brunch menu given that their sandwiches were not very nice.

Busy checking the website of Symmetry to see if there are any info about only brunch on weekends, but did not find any.

Nel's.
Can't remember what this is, but Nel said the bread was very hard.

Mine.
It was edible, but the duck inside tasted quite bland.

Still on pissed-off mode.

We left the place without finishing our food because it wasn't very nice. Would not recommend you to go to Symmetry during weekday lunches but am not so sure about their weekend brunches.

After the grumpy lunch, we walked around while waiting for buffet dinner with my family at Rise - Marina Bay Sands.

Seated, but waiting for parents to arrive.

After that, we just ate non stop and the buffet spread was not bad (desserts are my fav!), with a good mix of seafood (think crabs, mussels, oysters etc), cooked food, sashimi (salmon was so goooood), salad bar, cheese bar (eeks!) and fruits.

I previously went to The Line at Shangri-La for buffet dinner but wasn't very satisfied with the spread. It could be because we went on a non-seafood night so all of us thought the food was not really worth the high buffet price we paid. But, Rise was better than The Line (imo) and slightly cheaper too.

Rise
Marina Bay Sands
$68++ (adults) and $38++ (children)
Available 6:30pm - 10:30pm daily

After a full tummy, we headed back home for our mandatory birthday cake blowing!

Me: "Take some more photos!"
Nel: "You take enough already not."

And this is Nel's present for me! I love love it!

"Hello, how are you having fun?"

After all the celebrations, it's time to get back to work and building memories for a brand new year ahead. My engine has barely started but it will be on full force throughout the year! Go go!
